Frequently asked questions about the Contao update service

What is included in the update service?

Regular updates of the Contao core and all extensions, a backup before every update, a functional test afterwards and a short report. Security-relevant updates are applied promptly.

How often are updates applied?

Usually monthly – plus immediately for security-critical releases. The schedule can be adapted to your project.

Is there any downtime?

No noticeable downtime. Updates are prepared and applied in a short maintenance window; the prior backup means a rollback is always possible.

What happens if an update causes a problem?

Thanks to the backup, I immediately restore the previous state, investigate the cause and then re-apply the update in a controlled way.

Which Contao versions does the service cover?

All maintained Contao versions (LTS and current). For very old installations, I advise on the upgrade path first.
